Curently the world is in an era of aging population. This must be balanced with fulfillment of welfare of the elderly.Social aspectsuch as contribution, actualization, acceptance, relationship, and integrationneeds to be considered and influenced by place of residence.Elderly social well being is the result of an assessment of the elderly’s ability to face social roles in society. Elderly who live in BPSTW and community have various backgrounds, so it’s necesssary to know its difference. The objective is to know the difference of social well being between those who are live in nursing homes and the community.It was comparative analytic with cross sectional approach. The sample was 41 elderly in BPSTW Abiyoso Unit and 57 elderly in Terban Village using simple random sampling. Instrument usedsocial well being scale. Statistical test used Independent t Test showedthere is significant differences in social well being of elderly who are living in BPSTW Abiyoso Unit and Terban Village Yogyakarta (p value <α or 0,000<0,05) with a significance level of 5% (0,05).Thediscussionconclusion there is a significant difference in which the social well being of elderly who are living in BPSTW Abiyoso Unit is higher than the elderly inTerban Village Yogyakarta in 2020
