Background : Appendicitis is a gastrointestinal disease that we need to be cautious of. Data from the World Health Organization ( WHO ) shows that the incidence of Appendicitis is expected to increase every year. One of the procedures for handling Appendicitis is Appendectomy surgery. After the procedure is done the patient will feel pain. Pain management to cope with the pain is with non - pharmacological technique that is guided imagery. Objective : Knowing the effect of Guided Imagery relaxation to pain in post Appendectomy patients at RSUD Wirosaban in 2016. Methods : It was a pre-experimental design with one group pretest – posttest. The population was post Appendectomy patients that were in RSUD Wirosaban. Sampling techniques used a accidental sampling with 20 respondents. Instrument used was NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) questionnaire. Analysis of test data used Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results : The result of Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test shows p value = 0.000 with a significance level <0.05, thus the probability value 0,000 is smaller than ? = 0.05. Conclusion :There is a significant influence of guided imagery relaxation to pain in post Appendectomy patients in RSUD Wirosaban in 2016 . Suggestion : This study is expected to be applied in the field of nursing and become a reference in education and further research related to non-pharmacological therapy techniques.
